In class we will be learning about the different parts of speech and how they interact with each other in a meaningful way.
In October, we will be studying: Present Perfect Tense Verbs, Possessive Adjectives, Pronouns/Possessive Pronouns, Past Perfect Tense Verbs, as well as Collective Nouns. Present Perfect Tense Verbs (has/have + past participle) are verbs that tell about an action that is complete. (ex: Over the years, countless children have studied about nouns.) Possessive Adjectives show ownership or belonging. They must go somewhere before a noun. (ex: In class, we are learning about his family.) Pronouns & Possessive Pronouns: Pronouns are words that take the place of a noun. (ex: Every night, he goes to the store for his mom.) Possessive Pronouns show ownership (ex: This pencil is mine not yours.) Past Perfect Tense Verbs (had + past participle) past perfect tense verbs stress that an action has been completed before another action. (ex: At the park, children are swimming to escape from the heat.) Collective Nouns are singular nouns because they are talking about one collection of people, places, or things. ex: team, family, batch, stack, bunch, class (ex: Suddenly, the class cheered on their favorite team.) |
